Social Media Designer / Content Creation

Reports to: Creative Director

Position Overview:

We are seeking an entry to mid-level designer/art director to join our team. If you have
a passion for creativity, storytelling, design, photography, and social media we want to
hear from you. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in design, have
photographic skills to shoot for themselves, and direct other photographers when
needed. In this role you will experience working on various social media platforms,
there are opportunities work across multiple traditional and digital mediums.

Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media Content Creation + Graphic Design:
    • Develop compelling and shareable content for social media platforms,
      aligning with current trends and client objectives.
    • Create graphics that effectively communicate brand messaging and engage
      target audiences.
    • Collaborate with fellow BCHers, like social planners, brand managers, and
      copywriters, to concept and execute content.
    • Design for other, non-social media, mediums in the digital and traditional
      advertising and public relations space.
    • Basic experience in social media copywriting.
  2. Photography:
    • Have a foundational skill set of shooting photography on locations with
    • minimal crew and basic lighting kits.
    • Be able to direct photographers when scale of shoot requires freelance
      shooter and crew.
  3. Software Proficiency:
    • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and
    • InDesign.
    • Basic understanding of Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and
      animated content is a definite plus.
    • Canva knowledge is also a plus.
  4. Branding and Strategy:
    • Ensure all work aligns with brand standards, strategic messaging and
    • marketing goals.
    • A desire to monitor and implement social trends and design styles that drive
      engagement while still being ‘on-brand’ for the client.
  5. Project Management:
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines.
    • Deliver high-quality work that adheres to client’s brand voice and standards.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive and integrated marketing
      campaigns.
    • Be able to present work and articulate creative choices with strong rationale.

Qualifications:

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and effective design solutions and
    thinking.
  • Portfolio demonstrating photography skills
  • 2-4 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in an
    advertising or marketing agency.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
    Knowledge of After Effects is a plus.
  • Understanding of social media trends and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate rationales.
